The onsemi UA78S40PC is a universal switching-regulator subsystem in a 16-pin plastic DIP for step-up, step-down and inverting DC/DC designs. It integrates a reference, oscillator, current limiting, comparator, power switch, diode and operational amplifier. The datasheet specifies a 2.5 to 40 V supply and a 1.5 A peak internal switch; actual output current depends on the circuit design.
