The National Semiconductor DM74ALS540AN is an octal inverting buffer/line driver in the 74ALS TTL family, in a 20-pin plastic DIP. Its eight outputs are 3-state and controlled by two active-low output-enable inputs. A inputs and Y outputs sit on opposite sides of the package for bus or line buffering. The datasheet specifies a 4.5–5.5 V supply. It inverts signals; the 74ALS541 is the non-inverting variant.
Condition: new old stock (NOS), unused and untested. The photo shows an IC from this lot with its background cleaned to white.
