This is the PCB for the ABNielsen.com 6502 SBC R1 B2
NOTE: This is a test fabrication that unfortunately didn't have Ø2 og 2MHz nets connected - this is corrected in the desgin files but unfortunately not on this product (hence the price)
Introducing the ABN6502 Revision 1 – a revolutionary 6502 Single Board Computer designed with versatility, sustainability, and educational exploration in mind. Compatible with both CMOS and NMOS 6502 processors, this board embraces the rich legacy of 1970s, 80s, and 90s electronics, offering a platform for innovation and creativity while addressing the contemporary challenges of the global chip shortage and electronic waste crisis.
Designed for ease of programming, the ABN6502 supports 6502 assembly, BASIC, and even C code, making it accessible to hobbyists and professionals alike. The inclusion of parallel, SPI, i2c, and serial interfaces enhances connectivity, enabling seamless integration with a wide array of peripherals. With a clock speed of 2MHz, expandable to 16, 8, 4, 2, and 1MHz, the ABN6502 provides the flexibility needed for diverse projects.
Featuring 64k or 128k ROM and 32k RAM (24k available for user applications, with 2k reserved for video RAM), this board maximizes resources while minimizing environmental impact by utilizing readily available, recycled, or new old stock components. The incorporation of the nRF24L01+ facilitates wireless bootloading, showcasing a commitment to modern convenience.
The ABN6502 goes beyond functionality, incorporating a 51x30 monochrome VGA display, 6522 for versatile I/O, and a 74hc273 "Output only" port for font banking and video control. The reset circuit ensures correct operation and prevents screen blanking, while control signals, address bus, and data bus are easily accessible for customization and expansion.
Embodying a philosophy of sustainable electronics, the ABN6502 not only reduces demand for new parts but also encourages the recycling and refurbishment of older components, contributing to a circular economy. With Microsoft BASIC support and compatibility with the cc65 compiler for C programming, the ABN6502 offers a unique blend of vintage charm and modern utility.
As the 6502 approaches its 50th anniversary, the ABN6502 Revision 1 stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of this iconic processor, providing a cost-effective, educational, and environmentally conscious solution for electronics enthusiasts worldwide. Join the movement towards sustainable electronics – embrace the ABN6502 experience.
